Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Communication Journal of İFADE aims to contribute to the field of social sciences by publishing new and original scientific studies of researchers.

As an international refereed journal, Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Communication İfade Journal publishes scientific articles in Turkish and English. Launched in 2018, İfade Journal covers the fields of public relations, advertising, journalism, visual communication, radio, cinema and television, integrated marketing communication, corporate communication, event management, public relations campaigns and practices, public relations methods and tools, reputation management, crisis communication, corporate social responsibility, digital advertising, advertising research, advertising analysis, advertising campaigns, advertising strategies, advertising production, advertising writing, advertising-media planning, political advertising, social advertising, internet publishing, media research, publishes research articles, reviews and book reviews covering the sub-fields of media literacy, media technologies, radio programming, radio broadcasting, radio-television, social media studies, television programming, television sociology, television broadcasting, documentary film, film criticism, film production-management, cinema theories, cinema history, cinema and aesthetics, computer-aided design, animation, multimedia design, digital game design, interaction design, photography, visual design, semiotics, graphic design, video design, web design and new media technologies.

Submission Rules

1. Articles submitted to İFADE for publication are first analysed by the editor of the journal in terms of objective, subject, content and spelling rules, and their suitability is evaluated. Articles found suitable by the editor are sent to two referees who are recognised in their field for scientific evaluation, with the names of the authors withheld. Blind referee policy is applied in this process. If both referee reports are positive, the article is published in the journal. If one of the referee reports is positive and the other is negative, the manuscript is sent to a third referee. Authors are obliged to take into account the criticism, suggestions and correction requests of the referees. The final decision regarding the publication of the articles in the journal belongs to the editorial board.

2. Articles must be original works that have not been published elsewhere. Apart from these, the journal also accepts submissions such as book reviews, proceedings, translations, etc. Papers submitted to the journal can be in Turkish or English.

3. For the proceedings sent to the journal, it should be specified at which conference, where and when the paper was presented.

4. For translated texts to be sent to the journal, permission must be obtained from the editor of the journal in which the article is published and the original text must be sent to the journal together with the translation.

5. Detailed writing rules for the papers to be submitted to the journal are included in the journal writing template. Submitted texts should be edited according to the journal writing template.

6. Cover page and copyright agreement form must be filled in for all submissions to the journal.

7. Author information should not be included in the article files sent for review.

8. Articles should be prepared using Microsoft Word software.

9. It is required to follow the order of title, abstract, keywords, introduction, main text (method-findings, if any), discussion and conclusion.

10. Articles submitted to the journal should not exceed 8000 words including footnotes and bibliography.

11. The abstract should not exceed 200 words.

12. All articles in the text; Times New Roman 11 font size, justified, 1 line spacing should be used.

13. The main title and subheadings of the article should be bold and the first letter of the words should be capitalised.

14. Quotations exceeding 40 words should be written one centimetre inside, as a block, single-spaced and in 11 pt.

15. The authors are responsible for the copyrights of tables, figures, photographs, illustrations and long quotations published elsewhere.

16. In accordance with the co-operation between DergiPark and intihal.net, a similarity report is mandatory for article submissions. Authors will be informed at the article submission steps, a similarity report will be prepared at the file upload step and the result will be notified to the author by e-mail. When the result of the report is announced, the author will be able to complete the submission process. In order for the studies to be evaluated, the plagiarism report must be 20% or less. The rate of utilisation of the same study should be maximum 3%. Studies with a similarity rate above these rates will be rejected during the preliminary evaluation process.

17. APA 7.0 version citation method is used within the scope of the journal.

18. Articles that do not comply with the above-mentioned rules are accepted to the evaluation process only after the necessary arrangements are made.


Guidelines for Citations and References

Citing References in the Text
All references should be given in parentheses in the main text with the author's name, year of publication and page numbers. If the study is in Turkish, the page number should be given as in the examples s. 5, s. 24, do not use p. 5, p. 24.

- Quotations longer than 40 words in the text should be given as indented paragraphs without using quotation marks.

- Double quotation marks should be used for direct quotations not exceeding 40 words in the text.

- When referencing, if the author's name is not mentioned in the text, the author's surname and date of publication should be indicated in parentheses: (Turner, 2015).

- If the author's name is not mentioned in the text and a specific page is in question: (Jay, 2005, p. 161) (Aydın, 2023, p. 14).

- If there are non-consecutive pages in the text: (Kejanlıoğlu, 2005: pp. 20-8, 65-9).

- In sources with two authors, both authors' surnames should be used: (Herman & Chomsky, 2012).

- If there are more than three authors, it should be written as ‘et al.’ (Lee et al., 2008).

- If more than one work of the same author published in the same year is used, letters such as a, b, c should be added to the year of publication: (Hall, 1998a), (Hall, 1998b).

- If more than one source is consulted on the same subject, the sources should be separated from each other with semicolons: (Jay, 2005, p. 149 Therborn, 2015, p. 21).

- In the references list, only the references cited in the text should be included. These references should be listed alphabetically. If more than one work of an author is to be included in the list, the publication date should be ordered from past to present.

Citing in the Bibliography

The bibliography must be created in alphabetical order according to the surname of the first authors of the works according to APA 7.0 rules.

Publication Policy
Süleyman Demirel University İfade Journal follows the principles, standards and recommendations of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) on publication ethics.

1. Süleyman Demirel University Journal of İfade is an international refereed e-journal published twice a year, in June and December.

2. The journal publishes research articles, reviews and book reviews covering the fields of public relations, advertising, journalism, visual communication, radio, cinema and television.

3. Süleyman Demirel University Journal of İfade publishes scientific articles in Turkish and English.

4. The content of the articles submitted to the journal should be compatible with the objectives and scope of the journal.

5. Articles that do not comply with ethical standards are not included in the evaluation process.

6. No fee is charged for the publication and execution of the processes of scientific studies evaluated within the scope of the journal.

7. Studies that have been previously published elsewhere in the journal, accepted for publication and under evaluation elsewhere are not accepted. The responsibility in this regard belongs to the author.

8. An author submitting an article to the journal cannot have more than one article published in the same year.

9. All articles submitted to the journal must be prepared in accordance with the article template in the forms section.

10. Abstracts, publications derived from master's and doctoral theses are accepted provided that they are mentioned in the article.

11. In studies requiring ethics committee permission, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) should be given in the method section and on the first page of the article. Articles that do not submit the ethics committee permission document will be rejected without evaluation.

12. The contribution rate statement of the researchers, the statement of support and acknowledgement, if any, and the conflict statement should be included in the articles.

13. In line with the co-operation between DergiPark and plagiarism.net, a similarity report is mandatory for article submissions. Authors will be informed at the article submission steps, a similarity report will be prepared at the file upload step, and the result will be notified to the author by e-mail. When the result of the report is announced, the author will be able to complete the submission process. In order for the studies to be evaluated, the plagiarism report must be 20% or less. The rate of utilisation of the same study should be maximum 3%. Studies with a similarity rate above these rates will be rejected during the preliminary evaluation process.

14. As a result of the preliminary evaluation made by the editors, the manuscripts that are deemed appropriate are sent to at least two referees for scientific evaluation by hiding the names of the authors. Double blind referee policy is applied in this process. The identities of the referees and the author are kept confidential throughout the evaluation process.

15. If both referee reports are positive, the article is published in the journal. If one of the referee reports is positive and the other is negative, the article is sent to a third referee. Authors are obliged to take into account the criticism, suggestions and correction requests of the referees.

16. Articles that do not comply with the above-mentioned publication principles will not be evaluated.

Book Review Principles Writing Guide
1. The books to be selected for review must be an academic work in one of the following fields
o Public Relations
o Advertising
o Marketing Communication
o Journalism
o Visual Communication
o Radio, Cinema and Television

2. Book reviews can be written in Turkish or English.

3. Book reviews should not only include a summary of the book.

4. Information about the subject, purpose and scope of the book should be given.

5. The strengths and weaknesses of the book should be discussed from a critical point of view.

6.
The general format requirements in the ‘Writing Rules’ section of the journal should be followed.

7. The book review should not exceed 4500 words including everything.

Ethical Responsibilities of Referees
1. Referees who do not have the appropriate qualifications to evaluate the subject and content of the submitted article should notify the editor and should not evaluate the article.

2. A double-blind referee policy is applied during the evaluation process. The identities of the referees and the author are concealed from each other during the evaluation process.

3. Reviewers should not contact the authors of the articles under any circumstances.

4. All evaluations should be made objectively.

5. Reviewers should evaluate the accepted manuscript within 20 days.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
1. The content of the articles submitted to the journal must be compatible with the objective and scope of the journal.

2. Articles that do not comply with ethical standards are not included in the evaluation process. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that scientific articles comply with ethical standards.

3. Authors are obliged to prepare their work in accordance with the publication principles.

4. Abstracts, publications produced from master's and doctoral theses are accepted provided that they are specified in the article.

5. Articles that have been previously published elsewhere, accepted for publication, and under evaluation elsewhere are not accepted in the journal. The responsibility in this regard belongs to the author.

6. Authors are required to include all the sources they have used in their articles in the bibliography section.

7. Authors should prepare their articles submitted to the journal in accordance with the journal's writing template. Authors who are found not to comply with the template will be resubmitted for correction.

8. Authors must upload the copyright agreement form to the system at the time of submitting their work to the journal.

9. In line with the co-operation between DergiPark and intihal.net, a similarity report is mandatory for article submissions. Authors will be informed at the article submission steps, a similarity report will be prepared at the file upload step and the result will be notified to the author by e-mail. When the result of the report is announced, the author will be able to complete the submission process. In order for the studies to be evaluated, the plagiarism report must be 20% or less. The rate of utilisation of the same study should be maximum 3%. Articles with a similarity rate above these rates will be rejected during the preliminary evaluation process.

10. Similarity reports must be uploaded to the system by the authors.

11. In order for the studies submitted to our journal to be evaluated, ethics committee permission must be obtained in the following cases:

* All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using data collection techniques such as questionnaires, interviews, focus group studies, observations, experiments, interviews.

12. In articles requiring ethics committee permission, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) should be given in the method section and on the first page of the article. Articles that do not submit the ethics committee permission document will be rejected without evaluation.

13. Articles that do not require Ethics Committee approval must upload a signed petition declaring this to the system.

14. The articles should include a statement of the contribution rate of the researchers, a statement of support and acknowledgement, if any, and a statement of conflict.

15. Authors are obliged to take into account the criticism, suggestions and correction requests of the referees.

Ethical Responsibilities of the Editor, Area Editors and Associate Editors
1. The editor and associate editors are responsible for all processes from the submission of articles to the journal until they are published.

2. The editor, area editors and associate editors are responsible for examining the conformity of the articles submitted to the journal with the publication principles.

3. Each article submitted to the journal is evaluated by the editor, area editors and associate editors in terms of objective, scope, spelling rules and plagiarism rates.

4. The journal editor sends the articles to the referees for evaluation by the area editors, taking into account the referees' areas of specialisation.

5. After the preliminary evaluation by the editor, area editors and associate editors, the eligible articles are sent to at least two referees to be evaluated scientifically, with the names of the authors concealed. Double-blind referee policy is applied in this process. The identities of the referees and the author are concealed from each other throughout the evaluation process.

6. Articles sent to referees for evaluation are published in the relevant issue of the journal when both referees report positive results. When one referee reports a positive result and one referee reports a negative result, the study is forwarded to a third referee. The article is accepted or rejected according to the evaluation of the third referee.


There is no evaluation fee and no submission fee for manuscripts submitted to the journal.
